Good News about Research

The more I research, the more ideas I come up with for my TIP. In my next lab report, I will post the guidelines and specifications for the lab on the homepage. Also, I will require students to use a thread to discuss any concerns and share feedback rather than have students just edit one another's work. Now, we will get down to some real collaborating.

Hey Paula,
I've just read over your tip and it looks good. I had some questions as I read it but you seemed to answer them all by the time I was finished.
I also see that in your own comments you've decided to include parents and other teachers/admin; I think this is a great way of making the assignments "authentic."
Are you planning on collecting pre-tip data? If so, did it surprise you? My pre-survey data surprised the hell out of me.

Hi Paula, I FINALLY posted my TIP on the angel site. You can access it there, or I can send you a copy if you want. It's the super long version. Scroll down to get to the good stuff.

I'll go check out your TIP tonight. It looks and sounds like you are on top of this (more than anyone else)!

Hey hey Paula,
What's the address of your class blogs? I was just wondering. I'm going to give you, Reece, and Wil permission to check out my class wiki (you don't have to check it out, I just thought it might be helpful). Since you're doing blogs I bet you have dozens and dozens.

I'll send you an invite next week. I want to wait until all my classes have posted and played with the wiki.

Hey Paula,
I see you're going to provide criteria regarding the layout for the labs. Have you thought about seeing what they come up with on their own in terms of appearance? For my project I'm looking at intrinsic motivation so I think I'm going to give them very little direction to see if they do a good job of it rather than setting strict guidelines. Thoughts?

Hi again Happy Paula,

I'm now trying to figure out how I'm going to grade their work on their wikis. Should I force them to have said number of citations? How do I give them a grade?

So many questions. I think I'm going to be much more lax on the requirements for this than I am for the curriculum-based Time Traveler projects.

How are you planning on giving them grades for their blogs?

Have a good week, Paula!
