The problem of practice has changed. Students have very busy schedules and find it difficult to meet to complete group assignments. Using a wiki allows students to work independently while still contributing to the group assignment.
Due to common assessments for each class, I will be required to have every class participate in using wetpaint to complete group lab reports.
A survey will be used to evaluate the pros and cons of a wiki to complete group projects. I will be interested to read the outcomes and hope to discover some new ideas and feelings about using this tool to complete work.
Due to time constraints, I will introduce how to use wetpaint early in the year. Students will post their individual genetic disorder project online. This is not what I am interested in, but will use it as a means to get them online and familiar with wetpaint. Instead, I will investigate how using wetpaint supports collaboration amongst group members to complete a lab report.
Through discussions with my team members, I have changed some of the survey questions. I will be interested in comparing some of my data with theirs. I have incorporated some of the questions that Reece and John are using in surveys in hopes that we can compare some of our data.
A change again, after speaking with the curriculum director and a colleague I have changed my survey questions yet again.
I will also be looking at how a wiki improves group work. In the past teachers have received complaints from parents and students about their group members.
I will update my TIP , yet again on the MSU site.
My adminstrator is helping me put the the survey on E-apple, on online survey tool that the school uses to collect teacher feedback from students and parents. This is good timing as students can fill this survey out when they are giving me feedback.
Hey Paula, I checked out the new draft; the survey looks good. I think it's a good idea to look at the effectiveness of the wikis in terms of group work and using an online system for data collection is the only way to go. Question; are the students having to follow strict formatting guidelines? If yes, is this difficult to do in wetpaint?

I think you might all kill me.
